Giving Thanks

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We certainly did here. Papa and Meme arrived late afternoon yesterday, in time to play with the girls a bit before their bath/bedtime. Even though the weather remained cloudy, cold and windy, we bundled up the girls so Papa and Len could take them to the park while Meme and I set to work on our afternoon feast.

Our menu:
Turkey
Sausage, apple, chestnut stuffing
Sweet potato casserole
Mashed potatoes
Green Beans
Roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon
Cranberry compote
Gravy
Riesling  wine
Pumpkin/maple pie
Apple pie
Ice cream

Kate "rested" for a short bit but was ready to sit down with us to eat at 2pm.  Lucy napped for 1 1/2 hours so joined us when we were on seconds. So delicious!

We opened a few gifts from Papa and Meme--Leapfrog My Tag and some books.

Then some snuggle time with Meme on the sofa...
So what am I thankful for this year? That our family is finally complete. Our children are both home, safe and happy.  It's been a good year.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all, Lisa, Len, Kate and Lucy. What a celebration you have this year! Your dinner looks delicious. I'd love your brussel sprouts and bacon recipe. Lisa, my school scretary picked up those backpack combination harnesses from Target in Washington state for me and they are wonderful!!!!! My friend here will love them. Thank you for sharing your family with the on-line blogging community. My adoption journey is pretty much stalled at the moment. Take care,
Elizabeth

Looks like you had a good day. I will be able to say our family is complete next Thanksgiving!

We're probably traveling in Feb.

Elizabeth--recipe is easy! Put brussels sprouts in pan, cut up some bacon and spread around/over the sprouts. Cover with foil and roast at 400 until fork tender--I use convection roast so it only takes about 20 min. May need to add time in a regular oven. When tender, take off foil, stir around and roast another 5-10 min. more until bacon is crisp and sprouts are browned. Yum!
What has happened to your adoption??
