Spring has sprung

After what feels like no winter at all, spring is here to stay I think. The trees are simply gorgeous.

Tuesday we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo and the girls loved it so much more than the last time we went. By far their favorite things were the polar bear, the giraffes, the monkeys and the sea lions.

I didn't get a whole lot of pictures as riding herd on 2 kids in a crowded zoo is a bit like herding cats through a field of catnip. Not for the faint-hearted. We rode the carousel which turned out not to be as enjoyable as I thought it would be. The movement of the animals up and down combined with the spinning carousel was just a bit too much for them and they wanted OFF, as they repeated to me for the entire ride.

The train was a more popular option but mostly with Kate as adults were not allowed to ride. Lucy kept insisting she wanted to go with Kate and was fine for a short time...
until the train started going in circles. She could see me the whole time. There were no actual tears but her face sure did look unhappy

compared to Kate's.
We made a day of it, eating lunch and strolling on the boardwalk before heading home for the day. The view of the city always makes me smile.
Don't you just love that burst of pink just a little to the right of the Hancock Building?
