The Hedgehog Story

Yia Yia and Pappou sent a special gift for the girls today. Since Lucy and Kate were getting their own rooms, they asked if they could send something to mark the occasion. The first thing I noticed when re-doing the rooms is that Kate has a plethora of things with her name on them like quilts, block letters, plaques. Lucy has absolutely nothing with her name on it so Yia Yia and Pappou sent her a mirror with her name on it so she can see both herself and her name at the same time. Clever and thoughtful!

They also sent both girls some rather adorable orphaned hedgehogs and a home-made story about them.
This set of videos is in three clips for brevity (I really need to get some good editing software...)
Hedgehogs Part 1 from Lisa on Vimeo.

Hedghogs Part 2 from Lisa on Vimeo.

Hedghogs Part 3 from Lisa on Vimeo.

And here's the story:

How awesome is that?? We read it for bedtime tonight as they hugged their hedgehogs tightly. They both fell asleep with them--Lucy with her arm tightly around hers and Kate's standing guard right next to her head. I suspect all four of them will wind up on the floor (or rather, on the pillow I put by the bed to break their falls) by morning as they aren't doing too well without railings. Hopefully the safety rails I ordered will be here this weekend.

Wow! What a wonderful story. It is so personal but absolutely delightful. A treasured gift. Is it laminated? Just an idea from this primary teacher here, but laminating it at an office supply store may increase its durability. It is so precious. I love the illustrations as well. Yia Yia and Pappou should consider writing and publishing.
