Happy Halloween 2016!

It's hard to believe that it is already November as I sit here enjoying 70+ degree weather and sunny skies. Last night could not have been more perfect for trick-or-treating, especially considering previous years' trek through sleet and high winds.

We kicked off the festivities with a party at the girls' school. Each class had an individual party after the all-school parade around the grounds. My contribution to the party was a healthy pumpkin-head!

The girls made it clear that I needed a costume this year...

Both girls were ninjas this year but since the school said no hoods or masks, they looked a bit incomplete for the parade.

Back in the classroom, several moms led crafts and activities.

After school, we came home to load up for trunk-or-treat on the other side of the lake. Since our lots are large, no one really trick-or-treats at our house so we handed out candy on the soccer field before all the kids headed into the neighborhood for house-to-house trick-or-treating. My ninjas were ready.
The neighbor right next to the soccer field built a mini haunted house.

Our trunk!
Before trick-or-treating, the youth committee provided pizza, water and beer.

I love that even the parents got into the spirit of things.
This little cotton-candy confection had all the mother's swooning...
Around 5:30 we finally set off into the neighborhood.

One house about 1/2 way along had beer on their porch which was the perfect place to refuel.
This house had the most special effects. You can see Lucy at the end looking exasperated with her sister for going too slow. The struggle is real....

We got home around 7:00pm and they showered while I fixed a second, more substantial, supper. Afterwards it was time to sort the candy, mulling over just how much to leave for the Switch Witch. They opted for about 1/3 of their haul and this morning were super excited to find, of all things, office supplies. Odd I know but they have been hammering me for some time about having their own tape, stapler, etc so that was an easy way to put a smile on their faces this morning.

That's a wrap on all things Halloween until next year.
